The Russian Federation possesses vast reserves of hydrogen production capacities, it has a promising domestic demand, and has favourable geographic position next to potential export markets. Taking this into consideration, Russia has every chance of becoming one of the leaders in the global hydrogen market by 2035.
The implementaion of such ambitious plans, which were set at the government level, should be preceded by a number of measures. Such measures would include the development of personnel training, the launch of venture and project financing, market assessment of the economic feasibility of hydrogen energy projects, support for sustainable demand and access to international markets, state-run coordination, as well as localization of foreign technologies that allow the development of local low-carbon hydrogen production.
